I Am Proud To Be Deplorable

Dear Hillary Clinton,

Yes I am deplorable, and so is my family that has lived in this country for over 300 years.

Let me expand on the deplorable things my family has done in that time

One half of my family came to the New World as Puritans, fleeing English oppression in the 1600s. Not much more is known of them, no doubt radical Christians that refused to be told how to worship their God and not call him by name- Jehovah. Deplorable huh?

In recent memory though, my family has done far worse:

My Grandfather gave up his US citizenship in 1941 to go to Canada and fight the Germans. A Lang, a German American. He was so deplorable this country called his leaving treason. It took a presidential pardon for him to return with my 14 year old Father; they had to re-emigrate to the US in 1944.

My Father’s Uncle, brother to the traitor that turned Canadian, instead joined the Navy to fight the Japanese. No doubt a racist that hated the attackers of his country.

Both my Uncles served in the Korean war. One was my Mother’s brother, the other my Father’s; Ronnie never came back. My Father was refused since he was the only left of the two brothers here in the US.

This picture is Ronald Lang and my Father Bruce, just before “Ronnie” left for Korea, taken with a 1950s box camera.

My Father, today would be called sexist, homophobic, a man of the 50s and 60s; a man of his time.

My son now serves in the military as a Navy Medic. Obviously another deplorable human being.

I am sure you reading this and millions of other American families can say the same of your ancestors and the living. We can all count family members that have done all these deplorable things. I am not special in any way here and neither are the men in my family.

Yet you call my fellow Americans that have given so much:

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables’. Right?” Heaping more you say, “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.”

So Ms. Clinton, this is no way to lead a country, this is how to divide it! You have certainly divided me.

While I was on the fence as to my public stance on who I would vote for…

I am proud to say I am now going to vote for Donald Trump.

The least I can do is stand up and say you have insulted people that gave all for this country so I could be here now, for the last time in November!
